Well this is it! The draft is near! Here’s the final one! No trades are included, figured they are nearly impossible to project, so this is based solely on the current draft order.
- Cleveland Browns- Myles Garrett DE/LB Texas A&M- The only QB that seems to be projected to be a franchise type of QB right now is Mitch Trubisky from UNC. The Browns also have the 12th pick in the first round as well so it’s possible they could use that pick on a QB. Garrett is flat out the best player in this draft, and the Browns need talent period, there is slim picking on the team.
- San Francisco 49ers- Solomon Thomas DE/LB Stanford– The Niners seem to have their bridge QB in place in Brian Hoyer, which could leave them to draft the BPA in the first round, then get a developmental QB in the 2nd round. Thomas is a stud pass rusher that could come in and make an immediate impact. The 49ers are switching to a 4-3 defense so they need the pieces to put in place.
- Chicago Bears- Jamal Adams S LSU- The Bears need playmakers in the secondary. Adams can come in and make an immediate impact for the Bears.
- Jacksonville Jaguars- O.J. Howard TE Alabama- Howard is the best TE to come out in a while and could be the highest drafted TE ever if he gets drafted here. Another stud pass catcher in the Jags offense will give defenses nightmares, hopefully Blake Bortles has a bounce-back year with Howard in the mix.
- Tennessee Titans (from LAR)- Marshon Lattimore CB Ohio State- The Titans need secondary help badly, and Marshon Lattimore is arguably the best defensive back in a loaded DB class.
- New York Jets- Leonard Fournette RB LSU- The Jets have a lot of holes on their team, so they might as well start out by getting a guy that will be their bell cow RB for years to come. I don’t believe they will pick a QB quite as they spent a 2nd round pick on Christian Hackenberg last year, so they have hopes that he pans out eventually.
- Los Angeles Chargers- Malik Hooker S Ohio State- Hooker has been compared to Ed Reed by some, so that can’t be taken lightly. Hooker immediately upgrades the Chargers secondary and becomes an instant impact player, assuming he stays healthy.
- Carolina Panthers- Christian McCaffrey RB Stanford- The Panthers would probably prefer to get Leonard Fournette to be their guy at 8, but McCaffrey is a nice consolation. McCaffrey can do it all, catch, run, return kicks/punts, and is electrifying at all of them. Nice weapon for Cam to have and will pair nice with Jonathan Stewart also.
- Cincinnati Bengals- Jonathan Allen DT Alabama- Allen is a stud. The Bengals should be running up to the podium to select Allen. Atkins and Allen together will be a fearful duo for years to come. The only reason Allen drops is the concerns about his shoulder, but I think he’ll be a stud in the league.
- Buffalo Bills- Mike Williams WR Clemson- The Bills don’t have a legit receiving threat other than Sammy Watkins, who has trouble staying healthy himself. Williams comes in and provides the Bills with the Clemson 1-2 punch with Watkins and Williams on the outside.
– New Orleans Saints- Derek Barnett DE Tennessee- The Saints need to help Cameron Jordan out with their pass rush, drafting Barnett would help solidify their defensive line for years to come with Barnett, Rankins, Fairley and Jordan.
-Cleveland Browns- Mitch Trubisky QB North Carolina- The Browns wind up pulling the trigger on the franchise QB in Trubisky. He can come in and compete with Brock Osweiler and Cody Kessler for the starting QB job right away. One would hope that he would win the competition between the two of them!
- Arizona Cardinals- Corey Davis WR Western Michigan- The Cards could go a number of ways here, but Davis is a BPA type of pick here, with the retirement of Larry Fitzgerald looming, Corey Davis could come in and learn from the best for a year, then take over as the Cards top target.
- Philadelphia Eagles (from MIN)– Reuben Foster LB Alabama- Foster is clearly a BPA type of pick here. Foster immediately makes the Eagles’ defense better by putting Jordan Hicks to the outside and making the Eagles LB corps one of the best in the league. Foster reminds some of Patrick Willis or Ray Lewis, but stock has fallen because of problems in the pre-draft process.
- Indianapolis Colts- Haason Reddick LB/DE Temple- People have compared Reddick to Von Miller, so if a Von Miller type of player is sitting, a team that runs a defense like the Colts has to take him. They desperately need help for the pass rush, and defense overall. Jabaal Sheard and John Simon are nice pickups, but won’t have anywhere near the impact Reddick could have.
- Baltimore Ravens– Takkarist McKinley LB/DE UCLA- McKinley is a Ravens type of player in my opinion, and also fills a need as a pass rusher, and fills in for the aging T-Sizzle. Bit of a reach here, but he will be a good pro.
- Washington Redskins- Marlon Humphrey CB Alabama- Bashaud Breeland was beaten mercifully last year as opponents targeted him so much with Josh Norman on the other side. Humphrey can come in and help solidify the other side of the field at CB and help sure up Washington’s secondary for years to come as well.
- Tennessee Titans- David Njoku TE Miami- The Titans get a nice weapon here in Njoku for Marcus Mariota. Njoku has all the tools to be an all world TE in the league, him and Delanie Walker will form a nice duo at TE for them for a few years.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Dalvin Cook RB Florida State- Jameis Winston will be jumping for joy if the Bucs are able to snatch up his former Florida State teammate, Dalvin Cook. With Doug Martin’s future uncertain, and Charles Sims more suited as a 3rd down back, Cook would be a nice pick here for the up and coming Bucs.
- Denver Broncos- Cam Robinson OT Alabama- The Broncos need help along the offensive line pretty badly. I don’t think Menelik Watson and Donald Stephenson is the answer at OT. Ty Sambrailo doesn’t seem to be working out either. Robinson can come in right away and step in at LT, although he may be better suited as a RT.
- Detroit Lions- Taco Charlton DE Michigan- Pass rush help for Ziggy Ansah is desperately needed in Detroit. Taco Charlton stays in Michigan with Detroit and should provide an instant impact for the Lions.
- Miami Dolphins- Forrest Lamp OG Western Kentucky- Help is needed on the interior of the Dolphins offensive line badly. The Dolphins got their franchise LT in Laremy Tunsil last year, but now they need to sure up the inside to make sure Ryan Tannehill can stay up-right come next year, they might’ve actually stood a chance in the playoffs with Tannehill.
- New York Giants- Ryan Ramczyk OT Wisconsin- The Giants still need help along the offensive line even after signing DJ Fluker, who is better suited as a Guard in the league. Ramczyk could come in and start right away at RT for the Giants and provide protection for Eli right away. QB is a possibility here, but think that they can wait til next year or 2nd or 3rd round to develop a guy.
- Oakland Raiders- Tre’Davious White CB LSU- White may be one of the safest picks out of this draft in my opinion. The Raiders have a need at CB and White will come in right away and make an impact for the soon to be Las Vegas Raiders.
- Houston Texans- Patrick Mahomes QB Texas Tech- Apparently Bill O’Brien loves Mahomes, and the Texans desperately need a CB also. Mahomes comes into a nice situation where he already has plenty of weapons and a good defense around him, so he could be a darkhorse R.O.Y. candidate.
- Seattle Seahawks- Kevin King CB Washington- With the uncertain future of Richard Sherman in Seattle, the Seahawks don’t really have much else at CB. Jeremy Lane is strictly a nickel corner, and DeShawn Shead is just average. King could come in and start right away on the other side of Richard Sherman if he stays.
- Kansas City Chiefs- DeShaun Watson QB Clemson- The Chiefs need to start looking at life after Alex Smith, who is solid, but can’t seem to get the Chiefs to the next step. The Chiefs have a great team but need an elite QB to get them over the top. Watson could learn for a year or two behind Smith and wind up becoming the Chiefs franchise guy as they don’t have many glaring needs right now anyways.
- Dallas Cowboys- Jabrill Peppers S Michigan- The Cowboys need secondary help and Peppers could help provide help all around on the defense. Peppers is likely to step in to replace Barry Church at SS, but could be a nice dime LB also.
- Green Bay Packers- Chidobe Awuzie CB Colorado- Awuzie is a nice slot corner who can also play the outside. He seems like a nice safe pick and the packers could use someone stable in the secondary.
- Pittsburgh Steelers- John Ross WR Washington- If the Steelers grab John Ross here, consider them my favorites to win the AFC next year. Ross is a burner in the form of DeSean Jackson reincarnated. Ross and Brown could be the deadliest duo for defenses, with Martavis Bryant coming back next year also providing a red zone threat also, the Steelers offense would be scary good.
- Atlanta Falcons- Charles Harris DE/LB Missouri- Harris gives the Falcons another pass rusher that I’m sure they could’ve used to get Tom Brady down in the Superbowl. They could definitely use him as another threat opposite of Vic Beasley.
- New Orleans Saints (from NE)- Zach Cunningham LB Vanderbilt- Cunningham has all the measurables and instincts that you look for in a nice LB in this league. He may not set the league on fire, but he will definitely be a nice starting LB, possible Pro-Bowler for years to come in this league, and joins a defense that needs LB help desperately.
